I love this place. Excellent food, excellent prices and reasonable service. I say reasonable because it is a cafeteria. Roast beef is outstanding. Always clean too. Only downside is the place looks like a nursing home cafeteria but who cares when you eat the food!!!!!! Advice - go here after a Purdue game for a quick, excellent meal.

This place is a nice way to serve food, you buy whatever you want. My grandparents eat here about once a week and when we are in town they take us along. The food won't blow your mind but it is good and they have a great selection.

If fast food isn't your speed then I would give MCL a try. I often come here to pick up dinner for the family vs fast food or pizza when I'm too worn down by the day to cook dinner for my monsters. It is more expensive than fast food but that's because it's totally worth it.

I eat at MCL all over the state and sorry to say this one was a disappointment. I had a vegetable plate, the cooked potatoes were black and swimming in butter, the broccoli was not ripe. The Brussels sprouts were ok but pretty bitter, even the roll was not good. It does not appear to be as well maintained as the other locations. On a good note the staff was very friendly. I just ate at the one in Indy on east 10th and it was good.

Always great food, and the nicest people to serve us !!! We have a group, & they allow us to have an area, or room, for us. I'm not a cafetetia person, but this is a popular place, which means a steady flow of fresh food to the counters. Be make it plan to stop by here.

My fiance and I just left MCL and it was a beautiful restaurant, it was so cozy, the hosts there were so pleasant and the food was excellent. We're considering your restaurant for our reception dinner rehersals.

I realize MCL is kind of a favorite for the older population around town, but I thoroughly enjoy going there. Their food is always hot and tasty. The sugar cream pie is incredible! Staff maybe not the best/well informed, but will not deter us from going.

MCL is a cafeteria serving traditional American comfort food. (I'm not too sure about the current "soul food" label, but heck, maybe...) They are great for lunch and dinner and somehow always have an amazing assortment of salads, entrees, vegetables, fresh-baked rolls, and scrumptious deserts. My favorites salads include the Cobb salad, cranberry salad, and citrus salad. Entrees change daily but you will usually find baked cod, baked stuffed chicken breast, talapia, salmon, Salisbury steak, salmon patty, ham and beans, roast beef, fried chicken, stuffed green pepper. They have smaller portioned senior meals (used to be called the "Jack Benny Special") for a lower price. I think Mr. Benny must have come back and said he wanted a royalty because they changed the name. The big menu board had been taken down a couple of years ago, making it harder to make a choice. Last week I was very pleased to see they have revived the daily menu board that lists all the entrees, so you can once again get an idea what you may want when you get up there. Sides include Harvard beets, green beans various ways, corn, broccoli, corn, mac and cheese, sometimes okra, mashed potatoes, boiled red potatoes. Their fresh rolls are great -- simple, I know, but I always go for the cloverleaf roll. They are known for their iced Irani brand tea, both sweet and un-sweet. They have lemonade, fountain Coke products and serve a great hot coffee and hot tea. If you have room for desert, there is lot to choose from. My favorites are the egg custard cup, strawberry shortcake and New York style cheesecake. Easy to get to on US 52 (Sagamore Parkway) in West Lafayette, MCL is a great place to go for good food with family and friends. They can accommodate groups large or small, and can provide a private room with some notice for a reception, club meeting or private dinner. They are kid friendly and wheelchair accessible. Good home-cooking style eats in a cafeteria format, friendly helpful staff, informal atmosphere and reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

I hadn't been to MCL since I was an undergrad in the 70's. Going back was like a trip straight back to that era. Decent, right down the middle American food, you pick exactly what you want, and know exactly what you're getting. Good place to go for a treat on a budget.
